In Rome, Egídio de Sousa Santos was received by the Angolan ambassadors to the Italian State and the Vatican, respectively, according to a press release from the Angolan embassy in Italy.
Organized by the United States Armed Forces for Africa, AFRICOM the meeting brings together senior African military officers to discuss and analyze issues related to maritime security, cyber security and threats to the security of their respective countries.
AFRICOM is one of the six geographic military commands of the US Department of Defense for Africa, created in 2007 by former President George Bush, as part of the global efforts to combat terrorism, from the official guideline of promoting African solutions to African problems.
The command is responsible for coordinating and implementing US policies on the African continent in terms of defense and security, focusing on preventing and combating terrorism through strengthening the armies of partner countries in the region.
