Africa-Press – Angola. Angola is participating in the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which kicked off on Monday at the Geneva International Conference Centre.
The event, dedicated to the theme: “Navigating uncertainty – strengthening humanity”, highlights the need for reinforced humanitarian action in response to the unpredictability of world events and growing humanitarian needs.
In accordance with article nine of the Statutes of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the duly recognized National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as well as the States parties to the Geneva Conventions, participate in the event.
The Angolan delegation to the event is headed by Ambassador Margarida Izata, Angola’s Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, and will intervene during the plenary session throughout the week at one of the event’s highlights, where the most relevant issues that mark the Angolan government’s agenda within the framework of International Humanitarian Law will be presented.
