Africa-Press – Angola. Angola plans to extend cooperation with Spain beyond the agriculture, fisheries, health and higher education sectors, the Angolan ambassador to the Iberian country, Balbina da Silva, said on Sunday in Seville.

The head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission, who was speaking to the press as part of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, said that the Spanish Government pays special attention to Angola, a country that is listed as a priority in its diplomatic strategy.

“It is this priority that we would like to take advantage of to further expand our bilateral relations with Spain,” the diplomat stressed.

According to Balbina da Silva, there is a large number of Spanish businessmen and more than 20 Spanish companies in Angola, adding that there is a lot of interest in Angolan products being exported to Spain, such as fruits.

By the way, she revealed that he held a meeting on Saturday with some Spanish businessmen who expressed their desire to import fruit from Angola.

“We have to do some homework so that it is possible to export such product”, she stressed before adding that there is also a lot of interest in timber.

It should be noted that the relationship between Angola and Spain dates back to the post-independence period and is marked by strong ties of friendship and cooperation in the most varied fields, such as electrical infrastructure, university education, health, transport, geology, water treatment, fishing, information technologies, tourism and industry, among others.
