Africa-Press – Angola. A delegation from Óscar Ribas University (UOR) will represent the Republic of Angola at the Global Summit on Open Access Diamonds, taking place from 23 to 27 October, in Toluca, Mexico.
The event, which is expected to have more than 550 participants from 55 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, aims to promote a constructive dialogue to promote equity, sustainability, quality and usability in scientific communication.
According to a press release sent, the summit marks a fundamental commitment to establish an inclusive global dialogue to exchange ideas, promote cooperation and coordinate academic communication practices.
On the first day of the event, which is expected to welcome more than 200 in-person participants and 350 online, the rector of Óscar Ribas University, Eurico Gungula, is expected to speak on the topic “Open access to diamonds in Angola”, according to the note.
In addition to this theme, the event also has an international conference of magazine editors and several separate meetings.
Experts will also discuss how to implement collective actions, in line with recommendations on Open Science from UNESCO and the Budapest Open Access Initiative, as well as strengthening an inclusive academic publishing sector that does not charge fees to authors or readers.
Among several themes, there are also “Science as a common good” and “Open access scientific publication on diamonds: A Common and Public Good”.
Participants will also address the global future of Open Access to Diamonds in scientific publishing. The Summit includes experts from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), the European Commission, UNESCO and government representatives from Mexico, Argentina and Angola.
