COP 28, which takes place from November 30th to December 12th, is an annual event promoted by the United Nations (UN), bringing together representatives from all over the world.
The Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula De Carvalho Pereira, who was speaking at a consultation meeting, said that the country intends to elevate “Your Good Name” at the conference, with an exhibition prepared for this purpose.
“We will have a stand and this edition will be special because we will also have a hearing room for bilateral meetings”, he said.
The stand, he said, will be equipped with televisions to disseminate messages about the actions developed by the Angolan Executive, within the framework of the energy transition process, which have contributed to the fight against climate change and the reduction of carbon dioxide and combustible gases. greenhouse effect.
The minister highlighted that COP 28 will open on November 30th, while December 1st and 2nd are reserved for the country to participate in an event at the highest level. The program reserves the opening of the Angola exhibition for the 3rd.
For his part, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Sebastião Gaspar Martins, said that Angola will show its commitment to decarbonization and balance based on needs, as it is a country whose dependence is on oil and gas.
Sebastião Gaspar Martins said that the national concessionaire is engaged in implementing projects focused on combating climate issues, the greenhouse effect and solar energy.
“We will present the theme Our Journey, focused on ensuring the sustainability of society without compromising the energy transition”, he concluded.
