Africa-Press – Angola. Angola qualified this Saturday for the World Basketball Championship, this year, in Asia, after winning over Cape Verde, by 80-67, in a game of the second round of the fifth and last qualifying window, competition that takes place in Kilamba pavilion.

With this victory, the national combined has 16 points and maintains the second position in group E, led by Côte d’Ivoire, with 17, the two groups already qualified for the world event, despite still missing the third round, in Sunday.

In an initially difficult match, against a very experienced team that uses the tower Edi Tavares, an athlete from Real Madrid of Spain, with 2.21cm, Angola had to be resilient and overall it even seemed like an easy qualification.

It was up to winger Milton Ventura to take the lead in the first four points, in a period of great balance in which the African champions won by 20-18.

In the second period, Angola entered more galvanized. Base Childo Dundão started with a triple throw, which would become one of the most successful matches for the national team in that campaign.

In the following moment, the confrontation registered a temporary stoppage of eight minutes, due to the failure of energy in the Kilamba pavilion, when the score was 38-30 for Angola.

On the way back to the game, the Angolans maintained the advantage until the break, by 43-36.

The third quarter confirmed the rise of the hosts combined with the spectacle, mainly by the wingers Kevin Koldia and Milton Valente, with successive “Smash”.
