Africa-Press – Angola. The Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, Margarida Izata, Margarida Izata, reiterated, this Thursday, Angola’s commitment to implementing profound reforms in the economic and social sectors, articulated in the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023-2027.
The diplomat was speaking during the debate on the mechanism on the right to development, within the framework of the Human Rights Council (HRC), taking place in Geneva since the 9th of this month, on the theme “the right to development of children and future generations”.
Angola supported the suggestions of Surya Deva, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights to development, regarding prioritizing the “five pillars of action” to invest in child development, nurture responsible leadership, enable participation, ensure safety and facilitate remediation, which can quickly impact development as well as the preparation of children and future generations.
Margarida Izata also recalled that the multifaceted crises that have recently hit the world continue to negatively affect and accelerate the global partnership, as well as eroding progress made on the right to development, which is central to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for future generations.
