Angola Retains African Youth Title in Mixed Martial Arts

Africa-Press – Angola. The national youth team, both in male and female categories, won the African Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Cup on Wednesday, after obtaining a total of 65 medals in a competition held at the Cidadela Desportiva Pavilion, in Luanda.

In total, Angola won 31 gold medals, 27 silver, and seven bronze, which is why it became the new champion, thus retaining the African youth title.

On the other hand, Cameroon came second with a total of six medals (two gold, three silver and one bronze), while South African became third with four medals (two gold and two silver) and Mauritius finished in fourth place with one gold medal.

Zambia came in fifth place (4 bronze medals) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in sixth (one silver).

Angola participated in the competition with a total of 83 athletes and won the majority of the 81 medals at stake, of which 38 were gold, 32 silver, and 11 bronze.

Algeria, Ivory Coast, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Ghana, Tunisia, Mauritius, South Africa, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe are the teams which participated in the championship, in addition to Angola.

However, the junior category competitions are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, where Angola will again compete with 24 athletes.
