Africa-Press – Angola. Rhanya Santo, a swimmer from Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda, will represent Angola in the inaugural Africa Open Water Swimming Cup, which will take place from November 28th to 30th in Conakry, on Thursday in Luanda.

The long-distance swimmer earned an invitation to the event organized by the African Swimming Confederation (Aquatic Africa), after winning a bronze medal at the African Junior Championships in Kenya last October.

According to Ana Lima, the chairperson of the Angolan Swimming Federation (FAN), Santo will only participate in the 5 km race on Sorro Island.

In addition to Santo, it is estimated that swimmers from more than ten countries on the continent, aged 14 and up, will participate in the 3 km and relay races.

Winners of the individual events will receive USD 1,000, runners-up USD 750, and third-place finishers USD 500.

According to the official Africa Aquatics page, the winning relay teams will take home USD 2,500.

Lima added that this event is also part of the preparation for the African Youth Games, which the country will host in December.
