Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will host the African Youth Summit, in a promotion of the Pan-African Youth Union, from 9 to 12 August, in partnership with the National Youth Council of Angola (CNJ).
The information was advanced on Friday, in Luanda, by CNJ president, Isaías Calunga, after a meeting with the MPLA vice-president, Mara Quiosa, for the status of the Summit in which is expected to be attended by delegations from about 55 countries and different African heads of state.
He added that the event aims to promote a debate around the past, present and future of African youth.
“Among the international leaders who have already confirmed their presence are the Presidents of South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique,” he stressed.
For him, the participation of heads of State strengthens the diplomatic and strategic nature of the event, requiring articulation with the higher levels of the Angolan state and with the country’s ruling party.
According to Isaías Calunga, strategic topics such as multilateral partnerships, technology, innovation, diplomacy and the participation of young people in the development of their countries and the continent will be addressed during the event.
He also informed that the participants will be involved in debate sessions whose resolutions will later be sent to the African Heads of State, as a contribution to the formulation of public policies in line with the aspirations of youth.
He said that the event has, so far, more than 80% of the preparation completed, highlighting the strong commitment of the teams involved.
“We have worked in advance to ensure that this is a Summit of historic dimension for Angola and Africa,” he said.
Isaías Calunga called for the involvement of the MPLA vice president, Mara Quiosa, considering her a dynamic figure and essential for the success of the event, especially in the context of the Angolan youth elections that coincide with the period of the event.
