Africa-Press – Angola. Angola values ​​the strategic importance of the United Nations for the culture of peace, at a time when the country is preparing to host the 3rd Luanda Biennale, said ambassador Francisco da Cruz in New York (USA).

Angola’s permanent representative to the United Nations, who was speaking at the High Level Forum on Promoting a Culture of Peace in the Digital Age, said that digital renewal has created unprecedented opportunities for global connectivity and knowledge sharing.

He noted, however, that this phenomenon brought new dimensions to conflicts and threats to peace, due to an alarming increase in false narratives and divisive ideologies, says a press release from the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations.

Francisco da Cruz considers it imperative to identify ways to use digital platforms and social networks to promote a culture of peace online, build tolerant and peaceful communities and work together in the fight against external polarization, xenophobia and fueled hate speech.

He recalled that Angola hosts, every two years, in collaboration with the African Union and UNESCO, the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace – Luanda Biennial, to strengthen the Pan-African movement and contribute to the realization of a Integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa.

The next edition is scheduled for November and will take place under the motto “Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent”.
