Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan community in the Kingdom of Spain opened, this Saturday, the commemorative day commemorating the 11th of November, National Independence Day, with a meeting to reflect on the country’s development.
According to a press release sent during the meeting, ambassador Alfredo Dombe focused on the need for Angolans residing in Spain to contribute, in a more active way, with actions, in the most varied segments, aimed at encouraging and boosting the development of Angola.
The diplomat took the opportunity to encourage young Angolan entrepreneurs and students in the Kingdom of Spain to lend their knowledge in favor of a united Angola in constant economic and social change.
Regarding the meeting, Alfredo Dombe said that it served to unite Angolans and understand the real problems of the community, with the collection of contributions aimed at improving and reinforcing interaction between members of the diplomatic mission and the community, encouraging the search for mechanisms to support authorities to face current challenges.
Among the community’s main concerns are issues related to the issuance of passports, identity cards, criminal records, among other documents.
By the way, Alfredo Dombe said that, soon, the itinerant Consular Services commission will be in Spain to serve Angolans in their respective cities/communities.
He added that the diplomatic mission also has as a priority to promote partnerships with Spanish universities to generate scholarships and exchanges, without forgetting the work with professional training schools, whose objective is to return knowledge to the country in different areas and segments of performance.
The intention, he stressed, is to bring the diplomatic mission closer to the community, sharing pertinent information about the political, economic and social reality of Angola.
Community representatives praised the initiative, as, in their opinion, it provides comfort and support in resolving the problems that affect communities residing abroad.
For the president of the ANANGUE Association, Madalena Augusto, the reflective meeting was beneficial and constructive, highlighting the need for meetings of this kind to be held regularly, to share information regarding the country.
For his part, the president of the Association of Angolan Students in Spain, Wilson Mendes, considered it a commendable step in the process of bringing together members of the diplomatic mission and the communities.
The same point of view is defended by the president of the Associação Progresso da Nação Angolana, Jean Barnabé, who praised the initiative and the continuous availability of the diplomatic mission, since the tenure of ambassador Mawete João Baptista until the current administration.
As part of the Week of Celebrations in reference to November 11th, National Independence Day, several activities are planned, such as an official reception for the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain, businesspeople and politicians, the unveiling of the bust of António Agostinho Neto, at the Library of the Complutense University of Madrid, a thanksgiving mass and the Dipanda Festival with the Resident Community and Guests.
