Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan duo António Manuel and Benilson Sanda finished fourth in the B final on Thursday, after clocking 1:55.74 in the 500m canoeing event at the Paris2024 Olympic Games in France.

Out of a total of five boats, the Africans failed to reach the podium made up of Romania’s Oleg Nuta, Ilie Sprincean, first (1:43.80), France’s Adrien Bart, Loic Leonard, second (1:43.82) and Kazakhstan’s Timur Khaidarov, Sergey Yemelyanov, third (1:46.75).

With this performance, Angola’s presence in this sport came to an end after Benilson Sanda missed out on the semi-finals of the 1000m on Wednesday, finishing fifth with a time of 4:12.73.

Angola’s best finish in canoeing was in 2008 in Beijing, with Fortunato Pacavira reaching the semi-finals. The Angolan mission in Paris is made up of athletics, women’s handball, judo, swimming and rowing.
