Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government is intensifying actions for the development of the economic potential of the country and its citizens, with a view to guaranteeing progress, food and nutritional security, reaffirmed this Sunday, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José by Lima Massano.
Speaking at the opening of the II Guidance Meeting for Angola-China Economic and Commercial Cooperation, the Minister of State reiterated that the Angolan Executive has sought to improve the business environment as a fundamental condition for the continued attraction of investments and strategic partnerships in different areas.
José de Lima Massano expressed Angola’s desire to continue to deepen commercial and financial relations with public and private entities of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the official, the presence of China in Angola and its businessmen has been contributing significantly to new infrastructures across the country, a fact that has allowed the Angolan Government to better serve the socio-economic development goals of Angola.
Regarding the II Guiding Meeting for Angola-China Economic and Commercial Cooperation, the Minister of State considered that it represents an important milestone for both countries, within the framework of the commitment to preserve and maintain the long-standing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.
In turn, the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, stressed that his country and Angola are planning and aligning the deepening of cooperation relations, particularly on food security.
“ The deepening of economic relations was promoted, constituting one of the main focuses that will allow the parties to give a new development of the strategic partnership, within the framework of bilateral relations of 40 years.
In this regard, the Chinese official advanced that the 20th National Congress of China proposes the construction of a new development paradigm and promoting high-level openness to the outside world, a fact that will provide Angola and other countries in the world with a broader and more deep in development.
According to the Chinese leader, the scale of bilateral trade between the two countries has grown steadily. Trade carried out in 2022 reached 27 billion dollars, an increase of 16% compared to the previous year.
Angola has become China’s second largest trading partner in Africa, after South Africa. The list of China’s main trading partners in Africa also includes Nigeria, Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It is estimated that in China’s total trade, the African continent appears in sixth place with only 3.83% of the country’s total international trade.
