Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, held a meeting, this Saturday, in Lusaka, with his Zambian counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema, host of the extraordinary summit of the Troika duo of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The meeting between the two statesmen took place before the opening of the summit and at the end there were no statements to the press.

João Lourenço has been in the Zambian capital since Friday to participate in the high-level meeting of the regional organization, as acting president of SADC.

The summit will address, among other issues, the security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and in the province of Cabo Delgado, in northern Mozambique.

The two regions have been experiencing armed conflicts led by subversive forces for some time, causing, in addition to destruction, an increase in the number of internally and externally displaced people, as well as deaths, which led the regional organization to highlight missions in these countries to support respective governments to restore peace, security and stability.

The meeting will also review the financial health of SADC missions and analyze updated information on the mobilization of resources to support the mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC) from International Cooperation Partners.

The extraordinary summit in Lusaka will be chaired by the head of state of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, in his capacity as acting president of the SADC Organ for Cooperation in the Areas of Politics, Defense and Security.
