Africa-Press – Angola. The National Assembly (AN) condemned “strongly”, this Monday, the invasion of the Senate headquarters, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court (STF), by demonstrators.
In a message addressed to the president of the Brazilian Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, the president of the Angolan Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira, says she sees the invasion as a direct attack against democracy.
It expresses, “in the face of this anti-democratic act, concern and solidarity with Brazil, a brotherly country”, reaffirming the need for respect for State institutions emanating from the will of the sovereign Brazilian people.
Carolina Cerqueira, for whom democracies must be protected, the “barbaric” events must serve as a warning to the institutions of all democracies against extremist groups and movements whose mode of action is vandalism and disrespect for democratic rules.
On Sunday, pro-Jair Bolsonaro protesters broke through a blockade by the authorities and invaded the Senate, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
