Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated the Government and the Cuban people for celebrating the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, renewing their wishes to consolidate cooperative relations between the two countries.
In a note, this Tuesday, the Angolan statesman addressed his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Dias-Canel Bermudes, to, on his behalf and that of the Executive, congratulate the Cuban people and Government on the celebration of yet another anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, marked on January 1st.
João Lourenço showed his solidarity with the Republic of Cuba in the struggle that this country is waging to defend its interests and the continuous affirmation of its sovereignty, “in which context we appreciate your efforts towards promoting progress, development and social well-being of the Cuban people.”
He also highlighted the friendship that unites the two peoples and countries, “as part of the joint effort we undertake to consolidate bilateral cooperation relations”.
The Cuban Revolution was an armed and guerrilla movement led by Fidel Castro, which culminated in the dismissal of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Baptista of Cuba, on January 1, 1959.
Angola and Cuba have historical political, diplomatic, economic, commercial and cultural ties, based on reciprocity of advantages, dating back several decades.
