Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan driver Rui Andrade promised, this Friday, in Luanda, new triumphs in international races, at a time of greater exposure, after winning the World Championship in motorsport, in the LMP2 class.

During the tribute paid by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as part of his unique achievement, the 24-year-old pilot stated that his first two professional objectives have been achieved, winning the European title (2021) and the World Championship (2023).

“I am grateful for the way I was received by everyone. It is something that I will never forget because it is very strong”, he stressed, alluding to the apotheotic reception from the 4 de Fevereiro Airport by Government entities, practitioners and former practitioners, sports directors and people in general.

The world champion reiterated that his greatest desire is to reach Formula 1, a feat that in his opinion is not impossible, as long as one believes in it and makes the necessary investments.

The World Champion said that he has received solidarity support even when competitions do not go as planned, and his biggest commitment is to the nation.

“Whenever I’m on the track I’m thinking about my country because it hasn’t been easy to compete in races with other high-quality drivers,” he said.

In the seven World Championship races, the Angolan team only missed out on the podium in the first, on the Shrink circuit (USA).

In the following six races, Rui Andrade was always on the podium, namely in Portimão (Portugal), Span-Francorchamps (Belgium), Léman (France), Monza (Italy), Fugi (Japan) and Bahrain (Persian Gulf).
