Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan writer Nituecheni Africano competes, in two categories, for the 25th edition of the “FOX USA -2024” literary prize, with the work “O Recluso – oprincip e o fim de uma injustice”.

The Angolan representative competes in the categories of Best Crime Romance Book and Author of the Year, whose work was published in 2023 at the headquarters of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Lisbon, Portugal.

The work covers, in 150 pages, influence peddling, abuse of power, the secrets of a defendant and the judge, as well as the wisdom and cunning of a lawyer.

The “FOX USA-2024” literary prize is an initiative of the FOX film company in the United States of America, specifically in New York City, which holds a literature competition every year, in the Romance genre, with the participation of 130 writers. from all over the world.

According to the organization’s website, the theme presented by the book “The Recluso – the principle and end of an injustice”, translated into English by the publisher ROCCO do Brasil, last April, was crucial for the selection of the Angolan writer, as one of the criteria for participating in the prize.

Voting for the award, open on Monday (20), will run until the second of June, and for the Angolan representative the organization has provided the code +1406573479, where they must write a message with the name “Nituecheni Africano”.

For this competition, the African continent is also represented by the Nigerian writer Chigozie Obioma, who has published 16 detective novels.

The winner of the prize, adds the organization, whose gala takes place on August 12th, at the FOX headquarters, in Midtown Manhattan, New York, will receive 10 thousand US dollars, in addition to their book being adapted into a film by FOX.

It is recalled that Nituecheni Africano, 33 years old, won, last March, the Best Novel category of the II edition of the WBR International Literary Prize for Latin America, with this same work.

At the beginning of 2023, he was appointed ambassador of literature in five African countries, by the Brazilian magazine Word-Book Revier.

These are Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Uganda, through solidarity financing, which began on April 3 of this year.

In October 2023, he was awarded the “Literary Reference” award in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), in an initiative by the Brazilian publisher Publiart.

He is the only Angolan representative recognized in the second edition of the event, considered the second biggest award in the history of the Brazilian literary world, after the “Jabuti Prize”.

In 2022, he won the Best Novel category of the IV edition of the Great Literary Competition of Latin America, with the work entitled “The Web Immigrant and his nonsense”.

Nituecheni Africano, literary pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, is one of the three Angolans who are among the 50 most outstanding cultural figures on the African continent, according to the French magazine “Le Point”.

He has, to date, four literary works, namely “O Prisioneiro do Amor”, with 255, “O Vendedor de Pães As Mos”, with 145 pages, and “O Imigrante da Web e Suas Folices”, with 63 and “Reclusos ”, with 153 pages.

Born in the province of Huambo, on September 12, 1990, writer Eugénio Afonso Gaspar has a degree in IT and Business Administration from the Technical University of Angola (UTANGA).
