The “April Youth” day, taking place nationally from the 1st to the 30th of April, is a moment that serves to reflect on the challenges and opportunities for Angolan youth and to reinforce the commitment to the country’s sustainable development.
At the opening ceremony, the Secretary of State for Youth said that numerous activities will take place, ranging from sports, cultural and themed workshops on youth entrepreneurship over the next 30 days across the country.
“The day is a suitable moment for young people to meet, in order to raise the level of analysis, reflection and thinking about the country, being the guarantor of the development that is desired”, she said.
Danila Bragança highlighted that the theme chosen for this year, “Angolan Youth: Innovate, Transform and Develop Angola”, invites young people to make greater efforts in investing in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology for an increasingly active participation of this segment of society.
In turn, the provincial director of Youth and Sports in Icolo and Bengo, Mário Lino, said that the province is honored to host the national opening of the “April Jovem” day, being a reason for responsibility for local youth, about their active contribution to the progress of the province and the country in general.

Youth Day in Angola is celebrated on April 14, in honor of the national hero Hoji-ya-Henda, an MPLA fighter who died in combat in 1968. This date was established to recognize the historical and current role of youth in building the country.
Next year, the central event of “April 14” is expected to take place in the province of Malanje, and in 2025, it will take place in the province of Benguela.
