Africa-Press – Angola. The National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), in the province of Cunene, has been carrying out an inspection and inspection campaign for commercial establishments since Thursday, aiming to contain basic food basket prices.
The activity, which will run until the end of December, aims to prevent changes in the prices of the main food products, as the festive season approaches.
In a statement the deputy coordinator of ANIESA in Cunene, Belarmino Tumbuleni, said that the actions result from the strategy of articulating the exercise of inspection activity, whose objective is to improve methodological issues.
He said that the objective is to monitor and find out the origin of the products, given the prices charged in commercial establishments, adulteration of products and others with questionable expiration dates.
In addition to prices, he said that inspectors will also ensure hygiene in the workplace, as a fundamental aspect of commercial activity, as well as the legality of commercial establishments, where many have expired licenses.
The intention, according to the inspector, is to guarantee food safety for the population, with greater emphasis on hygiene, labeling and food storage conditions.
To this end, he said that the sector has eight inspectors, divided into two brigades made up of personnel from the Criminal Investigation Services (SIC), Health, municipal administration, tourism and commerce.
He made it known that the inspection action is aimed at wholesalers, retailers, fresh containers, butchers, whose action will be extended to the six municipalities.
He called on economic agents to work on their respective price calculation maps, which will legitimize the sale of products, warning that failure to do so could result in sanctions involving the imposition of fines.
“Once the pedagogical process is complete, there will be no more benevolence and in the coming days you will see establishments that do not comply with good marketing practices sealed,” he highlighted.
ANIESA was created through Presidential Decree No. 267/20, of October 16, and is the body responsible for inspecting economic activities.
ANIESA is made up of inspectors from Commerce, Hospitality, Health, agriculture and other areas, who control the prices and quality of products on sale.
