Africa-Press – Angola. The National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) signed, this Wednesday, in Luanda, cooperation agreements with state and private universities in Angola.

These are the universities Agostinho Neto (UAN), the Catholic University of Angola and the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologia e Ciências (ISPTEC), which are now providing technical assistance to the National Concessionaire, ANPG.

The agreements signed at the opening ceremony of the International “Oil and Gas” Conference aim to support ANPG in terms of energy development and production (oil, gas and renewable energy), scientific research, human capital training, through training programs at the level of bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and doctorates.

The Parties also agreed to develop studies, research and develop experiments on a pilot scale in the field of renewable energy production, namely biofuels, publication of scientific articles and human capital development programs.

According to the president of ISPTEC, João Fernando Manuel, the agreement is a good initiative because it will open up favorable conditions for the training of technicians for the ANPG, in addition to opening doors for students in the areas of technology, engineering, who pass to do internships in their areas of training.

In turn, the professor at the Catholic University of Angola, Tommaso de Pippo, considered that the protocol will allow the exchange of experiences, ideas and possibilities for ANPG to finance projects.

“We are already working on a biofuel project, whose objective is to remove plastics from the streets and create biofuel as a means of energy transition, in other words, to give a boost to sustainable development”, he said.

Sonangol and Azule Energy

At the same ceremony, the national oil company (Sonangol) and the multinational Azule Energy also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Sonangol and Azul Energy.

The signing of the legal document was attended by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, some African oil ministers, representatives of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, among other international experts.
