MPLA Parliamentary Group deputy Augusta Leonel defended the review of the sentences, considering them “very heavy”, while Vigílio Tyova, from the same party, encouraged the reduction from eight to five years, an appeal that had no effect after the proponent’s intervention. , as no one else was against it and all the votes were in favor.

The proposal intends to harmonize the legal regime of the fight against doping with the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, with the International Convention against Doping in Sport and with the World Anti-Doping Code. It also seeks to establish the legal regime against doping in sport, adopting the norms and principles of the World Anti-Doping Code, applicable in Angolan domestic law.

The proposed law of seven chapters, eight sections and 72 articles aims to establish the legal regime against doping in sport, adopting the norms and principles of the World Anti-Doping Code applicable in Angolan Law.

Sports practitioners, as well as all those who are covered by the doping ban who participate in official sports competitions, regardless of nationality, will be obliged to submit to doping control, under the terms of the law and complementary legislation.
