ASK Dragão denies match against Sporting de Cabinda

Africa-Press – Angola. ASK Dragão denied playing against Sporting de Cabinda, this Thursday, arguing that the opponent only arrived at the end of the morning in Uíge, when the match was supposed to be played on Wednesday, at Estádio Municipal January 4th.

As a justification, the ASK board claimed to have a trip scheduled for this Thursday afternoon to the province of Benguela, where on Sunday (12) they will play against Sporting, for the 18th round of the national championship.

The host team was on the stage of the match, scoring for the 17th round of the “Girabola22/23” National Football Championship’ and complying with the regulatory waiting time, the arbitration team authorized the collection to the changing rooms.

According to the regulations of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), in cases of this kind, the parties take 72 hours to play the match, at the end of which the offender is not shown.

Speaking to the press, Sporting de Cabinda’s vice-president for sports, Timóteo Inglês, explained that transport difficulties were the reason for the delay.

He explained that his team communicated the situation to the home club and the referees of the match to reschedule the game from 3 pm on Thursday, after having agreed to pay all expenses inherent to the show.

Having said that, he said he did not understand the reason for not holding the meeting, when there was a long time left for the 72 hours, a period stipulated by the FAF regulation.

In turn, the head of football at ASK Dragão, Geraldo Makiadi, said that everything said by the away team does not match the truth, as his club did everything to make the game happen.

He regretted the fact that he was forced to make such a decision, at a time when the city was waiting with great anticipation for the game against the lions of Cabinda, after the 0-2 defeat on the 16th round, with Recreativo do Libolo.

Press found that the refereeing quartet, made up of Sabino de Carvalho, João Fula, Domingos Francisco and Domingos Tomás, all from Luanda province, returned around 12:00, one hour before Sporting de Cabinda had arrived in Uíge.

In view of what happened, the final decision of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) is awaited.

With 16 points, Sporting de Cabinda occupies the 12th place in the competition, while ASK Dragão comes in 15th, with four points.
