Africa-Press – Angola. The management of Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto reacted, in a statement, to the news published by some portals and media about alleged expulsions, due to indiscipline, and extinction of the B team due to financial difficulties.

According to the note released on the official website of the military association, the club intended to clarify the truth of the facts for the due knowledge of its members, supporters and sympathizers, as well as public opinion in general.

“As a precaution, given the increase in cases of Covid-19, the squad of our senior men’s basketball team was housed in a residence, in confinement, at the total expense of the club”, reads the note.
However, 1º de Agosto confirms that there had been “serious cases” of indiscipline, according to the technical team’s report, a situation that led the management to take administrative measures.

Accordingly, the basketball department decided to transfer six athletes to the club’s Academy, on an internship basis, in order to enhance their recognized talent and room for progression.

Two players were also integrated into the squad of the main basketball team, under the orders of José Carlos Guimarães, another four training at the Jean Jacques Pavilion, under the guidance of the technicians who work at Cidade Desportiva.

The statement confirms only the dismissal, with immediate and definitive effects, of only one player, for “proven practice of extremely serious acts that violated the disciplinary rules in force at the club”.

It should be noted that the note does not make any reference to the athletes in question, a situation that may give rise to new speculations. The direction confirms the permanence of the satellite team in the 44th edition of the national of the ball to the basket and denies the mass dismissal of the athletes.
