Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan delegation promoted, this Saturday, the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IUP), taking place in October this year, in Luanda.
For this purpose, it set up a stand where parliamentarians have information available on the potential and reasons for the country to be able to host, in October this year, the 147th General Assembly of the IUP.
At the stand, which is often visited by various parliamentarians, there is information on the advances registered from the social, economic and political point of view in Angola.
By the way, the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, reaffirmed the availability and readiness of the Angolan parliament to host the event.
Carolina Cerqueira, who closed the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, mentioned the fact that the country has a resilient, dynamic and active youth.
During the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, parliamentarians will analyze the organization’s strategies on climate change, accountability at all levels, as well as the transformation of speeches into actions to combat climate change.
The approach also includes strengthening climate legislation to reduce emissions and support for a clean energy transition.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is made up of 178 national parliaments and 12 regional assemblies. It is currently the main parliamentary interlocutor of the United Nations.
