Africa-Press – Angola. The Development Bank of Angola (BDA) disbursed a total of 55 billion kwanzas this year to complete the financing of old projects, primarily in agriculture and livestock, the bank’s CEO João Quintas said Tuesday.

Quintas made the statement after the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the BDA and the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA) adding that throughout 2025, the BDA began a recapitalization process to assist projects whose disbursements had not been completed.

He added that the BDA is expected to resume financing within its liquidity capacity in 2026 to support the productive sectors of agriculture, livestock, and fishing.

The BDA is a public financial institution created by Decree No. 37/06 of the Council of Ministers on July 7, 2006. Its mission is to promote sustained economic growth in Angola.

It focuses on increasing national wealth, continuously improving the well-being of the population, and strengthening the country’s economy. The BDA acts as a key instrument for financing national economic development in alignment with the government’s economic and social development program and the national long-term development strategy.

In addition to supporting projects of national interest in the public sector, the BDA primarily encourages private initiative. The BDA’s actions primarily aim to promote the acquisition of goods and equipment, empower companies, and facilitate access to the new technologies necessary for developing small, medium, and large enterprises in the productive sector.
