Africa-Press – Angola. The population of the border area of Santa Clara, municipality of Namacunde, province of Cunene, was encouraged Monday, by the National Bank of Angola (BNA) about the importance and culture of creating reserves to mitigate emergency situations.
The appeal, made during the lecture as part of the World Savings Day, to be celebrated on the 31st of this month, aimed to instill savings skills and financial decision-making practices.
On the occasion, the head of the studies and supervision division of the BNA’s Southern regional delegation, Priscila Alberto, said that the objective is to increase the savings culture, among low-income families, to know how to control income and expenses.
He stated that savings are important for the social and economic stability of families and companies, which is why they chose this border area with Namibia to raise awareness among this population, the majority of whom are dedicated to entrepreneurship.
He made it known that the first step towards saving is to record the budget, whether personal or family, to know how to spend the money, defining priorities and reducing spending on less important things.
Priscila Alberto advises adopting 10 percent of income as the minimum percentage allocated to salary savings, as can be done for other assets.
The municipal director of Promotion of Integrated Economic Development of Namacunde, Walter Tuleikefo, highlighted the importance of the lecture as it encouraged families to always set aside part of their salary at the end of the month.
Walter Tuleikefo stressed that it is necessary to equip citizens and families with saving techniques and habits, especially money, to have their finances controlled and balanced.
During the activity, financial education, savings in the social and economic life of the country, savings and investments and the relationship between money and citizens were addressed, among other topics.
World Savings Day is celebrated every year on October 31st, with the aim of alerting consumers to the need to discipline the family budget and increase their savings.
