Africa-Press – Angola. The Association of Former Angolan Students in Cuba (Caimaneros) asked for support from private organizations and not just to help transport 160 tonnes of donations to Cuba.
The president of the Caimaneros, Agostinho Narciso, explained that the group collected various amounts of goods, as part of the cooperation between Angola and Cuba, which aims to minimize the effects of the economic and financial crisis and the hurricane that hit the country last year.
As part of this effort, he said that, in November last year, donations were delivered to the Abel Santa Maria University Hospital, whose reception was attended by the vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Víctor López, and the director and coordinator for Africa and the Middle East, Yahimi Rodriguez.
The president of the Caimaneros Association was speaking within the ambit of the Friendship and Solidarity Meeting between Angola and Cuba, which started on Friday and ends today.
Reinforcement of cooperation
António Bernardo, one of the members of the Association of Pre-Cadets and Cadets of Angola (ASSOPRECA), expressed the need for the two Governments to open more spaces where associations can exhibit their projects. ASSOPRECA, he said, in addition to the mission of solidarity with the Cuban people, also aims to provide support to cadets and all those who passed through the Cuban academy.
Thus, he stressed that they need everyone’s collaboration, despite having the Cuban Embassy in Angola sponsoring the resolution of difficult situations between the two peoples.
The vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Víctor López, said that, along with these issues, the meeting reiterated the importance of combating practices that favor neocolonialism, racism and all other forms of exploration.
“The two countries are guided by the desire to develop actions that contribute to fostering solidarity in the defense of peace and sovereignty between peoples, with the aim of contributing in various ways to the reciprocal recognition of culture”, he said.
Víctor Lopez also highlighted the desire of the Cuban people to contribute more to the socio-economic and scientific advances of Angolans.
The president of the League of Friendship and Solidarity between the Peoples, Elisa Salvador, considered the meeting beneficial, as it allowed the strengthening of ties between Nations, as well as strengthening, also, the relations between the Association of Pre-Cadets and Cadets of Angola (ASSOPRECA) with the Caimaneros Association.
friendship teaching
As part of the partnership, he announced the implementation of two social projects to support children aged 10 to 14, residing in Huambo province, which aims to prepare them for the future and teach them what friendship and solidarity is.
“We believe that if we prepare the children today, in another five years, we will have a strong and much better youth”, emphasized Elisa Salvador.
Another project, he said, has to do with the training of courses in Computer Science and Cooking, which will benefit young people from the province of Luanda.
