Africa-Press – Angola. The municipality of Cacimbas and the seat of the municipality of Camucuio, in Namibe, have benefited since Thursday from three community kitchens, to serve more than 300 hot meals a day, to vulnerable people.

These infrastructures were built within the framework of the Local Development and Combat Poverty Program and inaugurated by the governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, who works in the municipality for two days.

On that day of work, Archer Mangueira formally handed over, in the town of Upilameno, a water retention dam with a capacity to accumulate 486 cubic meters, which will respond to agricultural activities, as well as to watering livestock, also having, deliver 10 motor pumps, hoses, animal-drawn plows, machetes, hoes, corn seeds, massango, onions, tomatoes and fertilizers.

The official assured that the dam will contribute to fighting hunger and poverty in the community, with the implementation of agricultural cooperatives, as well as watering the cattle, avoiding transhumance to other areas in search of pasture.

He stated that the municipality of Camucuio has fertile land for agricultural practice and with the dam, the Government, in collaboration with the municipal administration, will create programs to implement more agricultural centers and equip them with means, so that they can develop the activity of the field.

“We came to deliver the chimpanca that the population needed so much. God also operated, because after the completion of the work, the rain fell in large amounts, filling the dam, making it possible to practice agriculture and give water to the cattle”, he said.

In that municipality, the official granted public hearings, as part of his program carried out throughout the province called “Citizenship Day”, which aims to listen to the concerns of the communities.

On the occasion, the participants presented the significant steps taken in the municipality and also concerns linked to the social and economic life of the municipality, with emphasis on the works on the Bibala-Camucuio road.

The youth asked the government official for more electricity to boost the region’s economy, leisure and sports spaces, as well as housing and more options for academic and professional training.

In response, the governor promised the phased inclusion of needs in the budgets to be approved over the next five years of his term.

“The solution to the housing problem will be the design of infra-structured land that will allow self-directed construction through credit with subsidized interest” he added.

The working day continues today, Friday, with visits and meetings with other communities in the municipality, which is 234 kilometers north of the city of Moçâmedes, capital of Namibe province, with an estimated population of over 50,000 inhabitants.
