Africa-Press – Angola. The “CAN`2024” African Football Championship trophy will be on display in Luanda, capital of Angola, from the 20th to the 23rd of this month, before the competition starts on the 5th of January 2024, in Côte d’Ivoire.

This Wednesday, a source from the Communication and Image office of the Angolan Federation of the sport confirmed the fact, mentioning, however, that the activity program has not yet been completed.

Currently, the trophy for the biggest “king” sporting competition in the world has been in the Republic of Guinea since last Tuesday (31), remaining there until Friday (3).

In FIFA’s schedule, before arriving in the city of Luanda, the trophy will also pass through Nigeria and South Africa.

Morocco, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Cameroon and Mozambique are also included until the cup reaches the event stage, Côte d’Ivoire, on December 23rd.

The CAN cup “tour”, which was supposed to be played in 2023, but which CAF postponed until the following year, started in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, on September 24th.

In the African Cup of Nations, Angola, which is in its ninth appearance, is placed in group D, alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso and Mauritania.

Recently, the country experienced the same situation with the men’s senior basketball World Championship trophy, played in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, from August 25th to September 10th.
