Africa-Press – Angola. Cape Verde’s ambassador to Angola, Júlio Morais, expressed this Thursday, in Luanda, his country’s interest in resuming, as soon as possible, the direct airline that already existed with Angola.
Júlio Morais said that this recovery will have to be a profitable flight, in which the two Governments have already agreed on this and the operators are working to carry out market studies.
“It’s a line that will have to stop on the continent, so they are studying the feasibility of this, but I think that we will certainly have good news this year”, he added.
Speaking to the press at the end of the launch of the Cape Verdean television channel in Angola, Televisão África (TVA), operating on ZAP satellite TV, he highlighted the intention to start the project linked to agribusiness, taking into account the seven (7) thousand hectares data such as conception in Angola.
According to the ambassador, these strategic projects are part of the challenges of instilling an economic content that gives sustainability to the good relations that already exist between the two countries, since there are already Angolan investments in Cape Verde, the only thing missing is Cape Verdean businesses in Angola..
He mentioned that trade between the two countries is practically zero, due to the lack of direct air and sea connectivity, despite the interest of economic agents and companies.
He said that a “critical mass” must be created that is made possible by direct connectivity, which they are working on, which is why he believes that this year there will be tangible results.
He said that they are still working in direct cooperation between municipalities which, without giving names, said that there are already two Angolan provinces, in direct dialogue, with Cape Verdean municipalities to establish twinnings.
The official pointed out, on the other hand, that there are also two Angolan business intentions in Cape Verde, linked to the financial and energy sectors.
