Africa-Press – Angola. The Cape Verdean Minister for Communities, Jorge Pedro Maurício Santos, arrived in Angola this Tuesday to reinforce cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of areas.

According to the Chargé d’Affaires at the Cape Verdean Embassy in Luanda, Fernanda Fernandes, during the visit, from the 27th of this month to the 3rd of July, the official will take the opportunity to assess bilateral cooperation and reinforce it, according to interest. of compatriots in Angolan territory.

Jorge Santos also plans to present the newly created Presidential Decree that offers, free of charge, the nationality of citizens of the archipelago to migrants and descendants in Africa.

During his mission in the country, he said, the Cape Verdean official will meet with official Angolan entities, with meetings planned on Wednesday morning with the first vice-president of the National Assembly, Américo Cuononoca, and with the minister from the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho.

On Thursday, the agenda includes a meeting with the Minister of Justice, Marcy Lopes, with the Board of AIPEX (Angola Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency), followed by a guided visit to Gregório Semedo University, in Luanda.

On Friday, Jorge Pedro Maurício Santos meets with the governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, before heading to Benguela on Saturday, where he will be received by the local governor, Luís da Fonseca Nunes, participating after a fraternization with the “creole community ” in that province.

On Sunday, the penultimate day of the visit, he participates in a mass at Paróquia do São Paulo, Sambizanga, in Luanda, together with Cape Verdeans and descendants, as well as in the 2nd edition of the “Feira das Ilhas”, also in the country’s capital, with a view to promote the friendship, culture, gastronomy and other habits and customs of the people of the Cape Verdean islands.

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Cape Verdean Communities Minister, Jorge Pedro Maurício Santos, was received by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Cape Verde Embassy in Angola, Fernanda Fernandes, and members of the diplomatic mission.

Angola and Cape Verde maintain excellent bilateral relations and are members of several organizations, namely the PALOP (African Countries of Portuguese Official Language), the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), the African Union (UA), among other international organizations where they combine ideas and positions to be taken in favor of their peoples.
