Africa-Press – Angola. The Luanda Provincial Director of Culture, Tatiana Mbuta, praised the participants of the 2026 Carnival, and called for greater unity among the groups to raise the level of the country’s largest cultural event.

In statements to the press during the event’s review, after the announcement of the results of the 2026 Edition of the Carnival, the official highlighted the emotion experienced throughout the three days of parades in Luanda’s Nova Marginal (New Boulevard).

According to the director, unity among carnival groups is crucial for the growth of this popular feast, because “unity is strength and the lack of unity prevents new levels of achievement.”

She also defended the need for groups to know how to lose with dignity and win with respect.

Tatiana Mbuta emphasized that the organizing committee congratulates all participants, mainly the winning ones.

Regarding the constraints faced, the director acknowledged limitations in parking and admitted that the venue is becoming too small to host the event.

She revealed that the Luanda Provincial Government is analyzing the possibility of finding a new location in the future, although no concrete details have yet been defined.

She also reminded more than 100 stalls and kiosks operated along the street in the Quinanga neighborhood, ensuring sufficient supply for the public.

The official also highlighted the satisfaction of tourists who attended the Luanda Carnival for the first time.

In this sense, she stated that it is essential to reinforce the promotion of cultural artifacts and souvenirs.

She announced her intention to hold a fair dedicated to Carnival anytime during the current year, to showcase products linked to the festival.

Regarding the real-time dissemination of results, Tatiana Mbuta explained that the measure is still under review due to concerns about disturbances.

The official pointed out that some groups still don’t know how to lose, which has led to complaints and the need to reinforce security with National Police officers.

Despite the challenges, Tatiana Mbuta considered that the large popular participation demonstrates the strength of the culture and the importance of Carnival for the cultural and social affirmation of Luanda.
