Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, received, this Monday (17), in Luanda, in separate audiences, the sovereign of the Luvales-Luenas, Nhakatolo Tchilombo, and of the Bundas peoples, Mwene Mbandu IV, both from Moxico province, with which he addressed issues related to the current situation in the country, as well as the difficulties in the social field that the populations in their areas of jurisdiction are experiencing.
Speaking to the press, Queen Nhakatolo Tchilombo said that she had presented to the leader of the Parliament the suffering that the populations of the municipality under her reign, the Upper Zambezi, are currently experiencing, mainly related to the problem of the lack of flow of products from the countryside to the large commercialization centers in other locations.
“The population is lacking in almost everything. And to make the situation even worse, it produces a lot of food from the countryside that ends up spoiling, due to the lack of moving means to transport them”, said Queen Nhakatolo, remembering that at the time of Agostinho Neto, this situation was minimized with the delivery, to the municipal authorities, of three buses and two trucks branded “Ifa”, through which the populations were able to travel and sell their products from Alto-Zambeze to Luau, where from this city took the train to sell the products in the city of Luena and other parts of the country.
Nhakatolo Tchilombo also deplored the state of the roads that should allow connections between the municipal headquarters and the various communes such as Lumbala Kaquengue, Kavungo, Makondo and Kawanda, stressing that it is up to the Government to find ways to solve the problems.
From the leader of the Angolan Parliament, Queen Nhakatolo said that she received assurances that such concerns will be addressed to those entitled to them, for their definitive resolution. She preferred, however, not to advance expectations.
He said that he prefers to “see is to believe”, that everything is resolved for the good of the population of the municipality of Alto-Zambeze.
Carrying memories of the short time in government of President Agostinho Neto, the Queen advised the country’s government authorities to continue with the legacy of the first President of Angola, who recommended the creation of conditions with a view to solving the main problems of the people.
She also said that she would be very grateful, if the President of the Republic materializes everything he promised during the electoral campaign, in the speeches given in various places in the country, including in the last statements made in Parliament, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the legislature for the next five years.
Nhakatolo Tchilombo has been in the Luvale reign since 2004, succeeding Queen Nhakatolo Tchissengo, who died in 1992.
End hunger and poverty
To journalists, at the end of the meeting with the leader of Parliament, the sovereign of the Bundas, Mwene Mbandu IV, defended the opening of more mines for the exploitation of diamonds and other mineral wealth in the localities under his jurisdiction, to end hunger, unemployment, poverty and constant robberies in the region.
