Africa-Press – Angola. The two days of cattle auctions at the 19th edition of the Agricultural Fair of Southern Angola, part of the 121st edition of the Festas de Nossa Senhora do Monte, yielded 133 million 747 thousand kwanzas, in the auction of 288 heads of cattle, goats, sheep and birds.
There were 110 males and 178 females auctioned on Friday and Saturday, having exceeded expectations of the 220 head foreseen for the auction, according to the spokesman for the National Federation of Livestock Cooperatives of Angola (FENACOOPA), Victor Panzo.
Sunday, in this city, the official said that 106 cattle, 80 goats, 30 sheep and 72 poultry were sold to producers, businessmen and visitors.
He referred that the first day of the cattle auction yielded 63 million 504 thousand kwanzas, in a total of 173 heads auctioned, while on the second day 115 were sold, worth 70 million 243 thousand kwanzas.
Victor Panzo said that the number satisfies, as the forecast was 220, but at the last minute more breeders appeared who wanted to sell their animals at the auction, which is why they went up.
The fair, which runs until this afternoon, has cattle represented from farms in the provinces of Huíla, Namibe and Cunene, in a total of 339 animals, of the initial 120 on display.
The 18th Huíla Agricultural Fair earned 125 million kwanzas for farmers. In 253 head of cattle auctioned, out of a total of 553 expected.
