The commander of the Central Military Region, Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier, promised, Friday, in Huambo, to improve the troop’s operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparation activities, to better ensure the defense of this part of the national territory .
The general officer, who was speaking at the annual review meeting of the Centro Militar Region, which comprises the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Sul and Huambo (headquarters), said that the preparation of the troops will deserve special attention, with a view to improving the performance of the group of men.
For this reason, he referred that he will rigorously monitor the processes of recruitment and incorporation of young people into the ranks of the Army, selecting those who prove to be good citizens, exemplary and with irreproachable conduct in the communities of origin, in addition to being patriotic, healthy and with an acceptable academic level.
He stated that full compliance with the guidelines issued at the annual review meeting, held under the motto “Vigilant Army for the reinforcement of military discipline and combat readiness”, requires, above all, preparation from the point of view of discipline, organization and rigor in the mastery of technique and improvement of knowledge, focusing on the man who holds military art.
Furthermore, he added, the Central Military Region needs to mitigate the countless difficulties that afflict the units, establishments and bodies, with the search for timely solutions, mainly, for the combat units.
Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier highlighted the combat readiness of the troops in ensuring the inviolability of the Angolan homeland, with the guarantee of the stability necessary for the proper functioning of democratic institutions, particularly in this area of the country’s Central Plateau.
He called for militants to abstain from any act of slander and defamation of democratically instituted bodies, with a view to strengthening cohesion between the effective, as an indispensable condition for achieving the intended objectives.
He also exhorted commanders and chiefs at all levels to permanently demand the maintenance of armament and technology, paying special attention to the magazines, as well as controlling the access of military personnel and civilians to the barracks, through their rigorous identification. , with a view to strengthening the special security regime.

The military official added that for the training year ahead, this military area intends to mobilize efforts, with the aim of embodying the guidance of the Superior Command in the continuous implementation of agricultural and livestock projects in the units that offer conditions for this purpose.
With this measure, he continued, it is expected to mitigate some shortcomings that are verified in the balance of the troop’s diet, as well as the occupation of the workforce some staff that are available.
Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier reaffirmed the continuous exercise of combat units, with the improvement of the material base for major and minor studies, with a view to permanently keeping the troops in combat readiness.
He also highlighted, as challenges for the school year, the intensification of programs to combat HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis, blood pressure and diabetes, within the scope of the campaign “I love life”, with a view to reducing mortality rates from preventable causes, as well as raising levels of discipline and continuing to promote military values and virtues.
