Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty two players from eight provinces have participated in Chess Zone B, since last Sunday, in the municipality of Ebo (Cuanza-Sul), around 150 kilometers from the city of Sumbe, selective for the individual absolute National Championship.
These are the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Huambo, Benguela, Malanje, Uíge, Moxico, Lunda Sul and Huíla.
The official opening ceremony of the competition, which is being played over nine rounds, took place this Tuesday, under the guidance of the president of the Cuanza-Sul Provincial Chess Association, César Rodrigues.
On the occasion, the leader expressed satisfaction with the conditions made available to participants, as well as the choice of this region to host the event.
The leadership of zone B, which ends next Friday and which will qualify five “tables” for the “national”, is shared by Kirto Justino (Cuanza-Sul) and Joaquim da Costa (Benguela), both with four ready.
The National Championship, it should be noted, will be played in the province of Malanje, from the 4th to the 12th of May.
The province of Cuanza Sul has the participation of five chess players in this zone, namely Kirto Justino, Gabriel Sapalo, Armando Pimpão, Fernando António and José Ribeiro.
