Africa-Press – Angola. At least 50 pig breeders were distributed to 25 vulnerable families in the municipality of Chibia, an action aimed at promoting pig farming, within the scope of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty.
Each household received a male and a female, of the large white breed , in order to stimulate the genetic improvement of the pig species, generate income, create jobs and combat hunger and poverty in the communities.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Justina Kanguende, thanked the administration for the gesture, which is why they are committed to following the training procedures, in order to be successful in the process.
The representative of the municipality’s cattle breeders, Pedro Armando, said that the sign illustrates the municipal administration’s interest in contributing to the reduction of hunger and poverty within families, ensuring the strengthening of the economy and will boost business to sustainable development.
He asked the administration to provide the local veterinary pharmacy with vaccines and drugs to control the diseases that plague animals.
In turn, the administrator of Chibia, Sérgio da Cunha Velho, warned families to be careful with the sows and avoid mixing with those who have already had an illness, otherwise they would lose them.
He stated that each breeder can generate 12 to 15 offspring, a value for a family, as they can continue to breed and sell to increase family income.
“We hope to continue with the development cycle with other families and they must take good care of these matrices in order to multiply production”, he reinforced.
Regarding the issue of the request for the veterinary pharmacy, the person responsible stated that they will work on the issue to put an end to diseases that affect animals.
