Africa-Press – Angola. Labor migration and the code of conduct on child labor of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) stand out from the approaches of the meeting of employment and labor ministers and social partners, which begins on Sunday, 24, in Lubango , province of Huíla.
The information was provided, Friday, in Lubango by the head of department for the Exchange area of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS), Alberto Francisco, stating that all logistical and security conditions have been created.
At a press conference, the official stated that at this event the report on the implementation of the SADC action plan on workforce migration 2020-2025 will be presented.
The status of the signing and ratification of the SADC Employment and Labor protocol, as well as the report on the state of the labor market in the organization and international standards for the sector in the Community, will be other issues under analysis.
During the meeting, according to the senior official, macro-economic and sectoral strategies that promote employment in member states will also be discussed, as well as inconsistencies in technical-vocational education and training.
The meeting also reviews reports from the organization’s social partners (employer associations and unions), such as the SADC Private Sector Forum and the Southern African Trade Union Coordination Council).
The meeting, according to Alberto Francisco, foresees, on Thursday, the 28th, a ministerial visit to the Lubango Local Center for Entrepreneurship and Employment Services.
“We follow the superior guidelines, we are talking about the Presidency of Angola, we will be looking mainly at the issue of human resources which is the main issue that the SADC presidency has been carrying out”, he expressed.
He made it known that Angola has already presided over SADC several times, consequently some sectoral meetings, but this is the first time that Huíla has left Luanda.
The technical meeting of experts starts on Sunday and runs until Tuesday, Wednesday and on Thursday the meeting of ministers takes place. Delegates begin to excavate Lubango, starting on Sunday.
The Southern African Development Community is a regional bloc that aims to create a common market, in the medium term, following the basic model of the European Union and some aspects of Mercosur. It also has the purpose of promoting efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
The meeting is attended by 16 member states, namely South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, whose Community headquarters is in Gaberone (Botswana).
Angola currently assumes the rotating presidency of the organization for the period 2023-2024.
