Africa-Press – Angola. The raw material used for cement production in Angola is entirely national and requires no imports, confirmed Agostinho da Silva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cimangola, on Monday in the province of Icolo e Bengo.
According to the manager, the industry has enough raw material for more than 60 years of cement production, without needing to import.
The official provided this information to the press at the end of a meeting with journalists aimed at informing about the operation of the company, which produces 5,500 tons of cement per day.
According to Agostinho da Silva, Cimangola is autonomous in terms of raw materials, such as clinker, limestone and clay, taken from mines in the municipality of Sequele, province of Icolo and Bengo, and iron ore that comes from the province of Cuanza Norte, essential for cement production.
He informed that, every day, they produce five thousand tons of clinker, a product that was no longer imported seven years ago and that is guaranteed locally in sufficient quantity to meet the current demand for cement grinding.
Agostinho da Silva said that the factory is currently operating at the limit of its capacity, with 70 percent coverage of the national market.
Among the beneficiaries are large civil construction infrastructures in Angola, such as Porto Caio de Cabinda, Caculo Cabaça dam, construction of road networks, bridges, among other works.
On the other hand, the PCA recognized Cimangola’s inability to meet all the country’s needs, taking into account the rapid growth of the population and the large number of targeted constructions and new urbanizations.
Along this path, he said, it is important that other cement companies do their best, with a view to helping make Angola a country free from cement imports.
According to Agostinho da Silva, as part of its business portfolio expansion policy, Cimangola began producing concrete, with a demand of 10,000 cubic meters per month.
Agostinho da Silva revealed that other combustion sources are being prepared to power the cement production furnace, currently supported by fuel, subsidized by the State.
