Africa-Press – Angola. A lot made up of three-wheeled motorcycles, agricultural tools, household appliances, wheelchairs and crutches, was delivered Saturday, to the people of 22 councils in the municipality of Quela.
The delivery of said goods is part of the commemorations alluding to the 62nd anniversary of the Martyrs of the Colonial Repression, marked on the 4th of this month.
Among the benefits, there are mayors, sobas, sobetas and villagers.
Upon handing over the means, the deputy governor of Malanje for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Domingos Eduardo, underscored the government’s continued engagement in improving the living conditions of citizens.
He pointed to the rehabilitation of access roads as a priority action by the government at district level, with a view to providing other social services and promoting integral development.
On the other hand, he reaffirmed the government’s intention to start this year the construction of the memorial in honor of the victims of the massacre in Baixa de Cassanje, in the locality of Teka-dia-kinda.
On behalf of the population, the traditional authorities praised the government’s initiative and considered that the means received will help minimize some shortages.
Meanwhile, they asked the government to intervene quickly in the rehabilitation of roads, installation of the electricity grid and water systems in the region.
The municipality of Quela is 115 kilometers from the city of Malanje and has an estimated population of 20,000, distributed across the communes Sede, Xandel, Moma and Missão dos Bângalas.
