Africa-Press – Angola. The Clube Desportivo da Lunda Sul must transform itself into a Sociedade Anónima Desportiva (SAD) in view of the challenges of the future, with emphasis on participation in the future Professional Football League of Angola, said Friday, in the city of Saurimo, the its president, Miguel Ipwupwu.
Commemorating its 3rd anniversary, marked on the same day (Friday), the collective is the result of a memorandum signed between the local government and Sociedade Mineira de Catoca.
Speaking to the press, Miguel Ipwupwu stated that the association will transform into Sociedade Anónima Desportiva (SAD), as there is no other alternative.
He revealed that the decision is almost irreversible after conversations with partners whose availability to sponsor is not the same, citing as an example the sponsor “Catoca”, which has not sold diamonds for a long time.
Miguel Ipwupwu said that the situation profoundly affected the sponsor’s treasury, and, consequently, everyone who depends directly or indirectly on that institution also experiences deprivation.
He explained that the association was instructed to make circumstantial salary cuts.
He added that the club’s management met with the sponsor, on Thursday, in order to find ways to mitigate the situation, safeguarding solely and exclusively the rights of the athletes and the technical team.
He regretted the fact that the club only had 24 members, despite a campaign to attract more members that began two years ago.
