Africa-Press – Angola. The National Senior Men’s Roller Hockey Team aims to revalidate the title in the African Championship, to be played from 24 to 30 August, in the city of Cairo (Egypt).

This target for the national team was announced Friday, in a press conference, in Luanda, by the new coach, Alberto Domingos “Jó”, conditioning, however, the achievement of the desideratum to a good and early preparation.

Argentinian substitute Miguel Belbruno said it was still premature to know who might be called up, but he guarantees that he will need experienced and quality players to revalidate the title won in 2019, in Luanda (Angola).

“In the African Championship we want to be ourselves because it is a test that qualifies for the World Championship. We have to work seriously”, he referred.

Alberto Domingos “Jó” arrives at the main team after almost thirty years as a player and in recent times as coach of the junior team and in the Académica de Luanda team.

In turn, the new junior coach António Victor “Duke”, also presented yesterday, said that there is a good base of players to develop a job with consistency.

For him, the legion of talented athletes can reach the national team if they work well in their respective clubs.

The men’s junior team will also participate in the African Championship of the category, to be disputed simultaneously and in the same city (Cairo) with the honors event.

Speaking to the press, the vice-president of the Angolan Skating Federation, José Gamboa, said that the necessary logistical, financial and technical conditions were being created for the national teams.

“In Africa, if it is not to win the title, participation ends up being a failure” he stressed, alluding to the objective of winning in both selections.

The first edition of the African Championship was organized by Angola, in 2019, at the Multiusos pavilion, with the hosts winning.
