Africa-Press – Angola. – One dead and 26 injured is the result of a collision between a passenger bus and a cargo truck, which occurred this morning in the Eywa urbanization, on the outskirts of Lubango, Huíla province.
The only person killed so far is the truck assistant, whose body was trapped in the wreckage. Of the 25 injured, three require care, as they have poly-traumatic injuries, according to the head of the emergency room at Lubamgo’s central hospital “Dr. António Agostinho Neto”, Domingos Tito.
A preliminary investigation by the National Police indicates that excessive speed is the presumed cause of the disaster, according to the spokesman for the National Police in Huíla, Chief Inspector Fernando Tongo.
He reported that the accident occurred around seven o’clock, on the access road to Eywa, the road between the Via Expressa City Mukanka International Airport/Mutundo market. The collision took place close to the police detachment in the Tchioco neighborhood.
The injured, including a baby of three, were all rescued by the Institute of Medical Emergencies of Angola (INEMA), which sent them to the central hospital in Lubango.
