Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-six actions, divided into eight intervention areas, are included in the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty, for this year, in the municipality of Caála, province of Huambo, one more in relation to 2023.
The data was presented this Thursday , by the director of the Study and Planning Office (GEP) of the local Administration, Fernando Kassoma, stating that of the 46 projects, valued at 336 million Kwanzas, 14 were destined for the village of Samatenga, on the outskirts of the city of Caála.
He said that the program’s axes are school meals, with 36 million Kwanzas, in addition to agriculture, health, social promotion and female training, social and rural infrastructures, water and sanitation, citizenship intervention and administrative expenses.
Fernando Kassoma highlighted that in relation to school meals, they plan to cover more than two thousand 500 students, distributed in four primary schools, which corresponds to one in each commune, of the approximately 64 that the municipality controls.
He added that the area of agriculture includes the distribution of improved seeds, fertilizers and various means of production, delivery of heads of cattle to the village of Samatenga, the milling industry and a vaccination campaign for animals of economic interest.
Regarding the social program for female training, he informed that it reserves the training of women in small business management and monetary reinforcement, for small businesses, whose beneficiaries with a high level of vulnerability, will be selected, for the most part, in the pilot village.
Fernando Kassoma said that the infrastructure rehabilitation axis covers, among others, the rehabilitation of a health post and a three-room school, earthmoving of at least 11.30 kilometers of secondary and tertiary roads, in addition to bridges and bridges, in several locations in the four municipalities of this district (Calenga, Catata, Cuima and Sede).
He made it known that the fight against poverty in the health sector has primary care as its priorities, aimed at ensuring vaccination campaigns and medicines for health centers and posts.
For the water and sanitation sector, the program includes the construction of two small water supply systems, one in the municipality of Cuima and the other in the village of Samatenga.
Regarding intervention and citizenship, he clarified that actions to combat poverty are reserved for guaranteeing access to Birth Registration and Identity Card, means of compensation for people with reduced mobility and delivery of basic food baskets to the most vulnerable.
The official highlighted the commitment of local authorities in implementing the anti-poverty program, which in 2023 reached a 100 percent level of execution.
The municipality of Caála, one of the 11 that make up the province of Huambo, has an estimated population of close to 392 thousand inhabitants, distributed in the municipalities of Calenga, Cuima, Catata and Sede.
