Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan and French private sector companies signed, last Thursday night, a partnership agreement for the development of new actions in the agricultural and agri-food sector, within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Agreement was signed by representatives of MEDEF Internacional, Alfa group, French and Angola business club (CEFA), these on the French side, and on the Angolan side, the Associação Agropecuária de Angola (AAPA) and Agricultural Professionals (Aprofagro).
The document was initialed at the end of the Angola/France Business Forum, which served to launch the partnership in the agricultural and agri-food sector between the two countries.
The established partnership aims to mobilize financing mechanisms dedicated to African companies in the agricultural and livestock sector and encourage the elaboration and development of new instruments to face the challenges of the sector in Angola.
Among other interests, the agreement also opens doors for the identification of joint opportunities, especially in the production of corn and soybeans, in addition to proposing global solutions to be implemented, including the structuring of financing schemes.
The parties agree on the need to ensure a biannual evaluation of this legal instrument, including a systematic review of the progress of proposed actions.
In a first phase, products such as cassava, maize, cotton, cereals, peanuts, coffee, fruits, vegetables and cattle and pig farming, poultry and fish farming are the focus of attention.
With this agreement, the French private sector wants to help in the development of the agricultural sector in Angola and the enhancement of production, in partnership with local actors in current and future projects.
