Africa-Press – Angola. The works to stop three large ravines, located between the villages of Cuale/Cafussa, Cajia/Catembo (municipality of Calandula) and Nzenza/Njinga Muinga (Massango), were consigned yesterday, within the scope of the emergency plan for containment and stagnation of ravines, underway in the country.

The consignment documents for the aforementioned contracts were signed by the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing and Contractors, in a ceremony witnessed by the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga and the holder of the portfolio, Carlos dos Santos.

The ravines range from 200 to 700 meters in length and have already cut part of the road network at the national entrance 140, which connects the two municipalities.

The work on the Nzenza/Njinga Muinga ravine, estimated at more than 998 million kwanzas, has an execution period of 8 months and is the responsibility of the company Telhabel-Construções Angola SA.

The company 7 Cunhas-Construtora e Obras Públicas Limitada is responsible for the stagnation of two other ravines, whose works, which should last 10 months, are budgeted at around two billion kwanzas.

The Secretary of State for Public Works, Manuel Molares D’Abril, recommended quality in the execution of the works, with a view to their durability.

In turn, Malanje’s deputy governor for the Technical Sector and Infrastructure, Angelino Quissonde, said that 86 ravines are cataloged in the province, whose interventions will be carried out in stages.

“We have two ravines in the municipality of Marimba that threaten to destroy a temple of the Tocoista Church and social houses”, he said, adding that others are endangering road traffic on the road that connects Cahombo to Cunda-Dya-Baze and one in Malanje located in the neighborhood catepa.

He pointed out that, depending on the severity of the ravines, the Provincial Government and the relevant Ministry are in line to provide an urgent response for their stabilization.
