Africa-Press – Angola. Angola has, since Monday (12th), a Consulate General in the city of Toronto, Canada, to assist Angolan citizens in dealing with different documents and other issues of a migratory nature.

According to Consul General Mateus Barros José, the opening of the office is the result of guidelines from the Executive and aims to prevent the Angolan community residing in Canada from moving to other cities, such as Washington, DC, New York and Houston, United States, to handle documents.

For him, the consulate should be seen as the “home of the Angolan citizen”, where everyone is welcome, without discrimination of any kind, including the reasons that led them to emigrate.

The Angolan community expressed satisfaction at the opening of the institution, whose ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Canada, with emphasis on Brazil, Cuba, the African Union, Argentina, Peru, Panama, El Salvador and Portugal.
