Africa-Press – Angola. The Consultation and Public Consultation of the New Long-Term Strategy Angola 2050 ends this Thursday and until now the participation of the citizens represents, in the document, the aspirations of the Angolans, said Tuesday, in Lubango, the secretary of State of Planning, Milton Reis.
Speaking at the act in the province of Huíla, this morning in the auditorium of the Rectory of the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, the official said that the strategy analyzes the national, sectarian and territorial scenario, in a process that began in February 2017, with the revision and extension of the Plan 2025, for up to 2050.
“In order for the document to represent the aspirations of all Angolans, we conducted more than a thousand interviews and consulted more than 300 entities, from politicians, academics, economists and students”, he said.
Milton Reis underlined that it was an action that took into account the time horizon, given that the 2018/2022 planning cycle was the only one that fitted into Angola 2025, whose results were few achieved, since after the national reconstruction, the step to to follow predicted accelerated economic development, but the country ended up experiencing a five-year recession.
These episodes, according to the Secretary of State, opened up the need to align Government instruments with the agendas that the country subscribed to, such as 2063 of the African continent and 2030 of the United Nations.
“We want to have a flexible document that can be adapted to the context of risks, which presents a clear reflection, defines the main sectarian priorities, identifies the main drivers of economic balance and development”, the secretary specified in his address.
In turn, Huíla’s vice-governor for the social, political and economic sector, Maria João Chipalavela, considered that governance exists in terms of decision-making and the participation of all.
For the leader, good governance is one that looks at the mechanisms for citizen participation, articulates their interests, exercises their rights and mediates differences, hence thinking about the objectives and opportunities for local and sustainable development is the fate of that auscultation.
